Growing Healthy Food
and Soil

“It is impossible to have a healthy and sound society without a proper respect for the soil.”

- Peter Maurin

Farm Fact

In 2014 Mark Shepard hosted an educational event at the farm teaching farmers how to implement farm scale permaculture and installing swales and berms in the fields.

Our Values

IMG_9755.HEIC

To grow organic food using restoration agriculture principles with minimal inputs.

Focus on Perennials

Perennial fruit and herbs will be the heart of our beverage flavorings. This allows us to focus on plants that grow well here and incorporate the fruits and herbs into the products we produce.

Wood mulch garden

In an effort to reduce soil tillage we implemented a wood mulch garden. These wood chips come from a local pallet factory and our farm. This mulch decomposes into wonderfully healthy soil for growing vegetables.

We are still learning

Of all the projects we have on the farm this is the one where we have the most opportunities for growth. We look forward to cultivating more elderberries, currants, plums, raspberries and more in the future.

Our current limitations

Time! As we manage the farm the perennial fruits and herbs get the least amount of love. Expanding our operations in the future will allow us to hire more workers, and welcome more guests, to work on projects like these.
